# Using a water chiller

The MFFTB has an internal water circulation bypass loop that can be enabled when being used with a recirculating water chiller. This bypass loop enables a wider use of recirculating chiller to be used, where previously one with its own bypass loop was required.  
  
A suitable chiller pre-configured to work with the MFFTB is available from Rhopoint.  
If you are sourcing your own chiller, or installing the instrument to an existing system, the following specification guidance should be followed.

Minimum Cooling capacity                500W  
Set point temperature                          +10°C to +15°C *  
Minimum Pump flow rate                    2L / min

Set point temperature is dependent on chiller cooling capacity. In testing a 500w chiller will need to be set to +10°C to enable the MFFT to reach the lower ranges.  
A chiller with a larger capacity of 1.4Kw can operate at a higher temperature of +15°C

Do not use additives such as glycol-based products with the chiller and MFFT.  
Use regularly changed mains water, de-ionised water or distilled water.

When using mains water ensure the system is set to mains. This will reduce the amount of waste water.
