Before you install a Rhopoint product, Symmetron verifies that the host PC meets the technical requirements — operating system, memory, USB 3 ports, camera drivers, network connectivity and more. After installation, it helps you and Rhopoint Support understand and resolve problems by collecting diagnostic information. Symmetron is quick to install, keeps itself up to date, and never changes anything on your system without your consent. All checks are read-only. ![](../_images/symmetron-main-screen.png) ## What you can do with Symmetron 1. [Install Symmetron](rhopoint-symmetron-install-symmetron.md) — download and run the tool. 2. It does not need a licence and does not require any Rhopoint software to be installed in order to run the compatibility checks. --- # Connectivity The **Connectivity** tab checks that your PC can reach the Rhopoint online services and lets you measure your internet connection speed. This is useful when software updates, licence activation or diagnostic uploads are not working. ![](../_images/symmetron-connectivity.png) ## Service reachability Click **Check now** to test whether this PC can reach each of the Rhopoint online services. ![](../_images/symmetron-service-reachability.png) Symmetron checks the following services: | Service | Used for | |---|---| | **Time service** | Verifying the system clock for licence and login checks | | **Diagnostics upload** | Sending diagnostic bundles to Rhopoint Support | | **Speed-test server** | The speed test on this tab | | **Software downloads** | Downloading and updating Rhopoint software | | **Rhopoint website** | General website access | Each row shows one of three states, along with the HTTP status and response time: | Indicator | Meaning | |---|---| | **Green tick** | The service responded normally (HTTP 200). | | **Amber warning** | The service is reachable but did not respond as expected (for example a different HTTP status). It is online, but something may be misconfigured. | | **Red cross** | The service could not be reached at all — the reason is shown. | > [!info] If a service shows as unreachable, the most common causes are a corporate firewall, a proxy server, or a web filter blocking the address. Share the result with your IT department or with Rhopoint Support. ## Speed test Click **Run speed test** to measure your connection's download and upload throughput against the Rhopoint speed-test server. ![](../_images/symmetron-speed-test.png) The result is shown as two tiles: 1. **Download** — how fast data can be received, in Mbps. 2. **Upload** — how fast data can be sent, in Mbps. This matters most when uploading diagnostic bundles. Each tile also shows the amount of data transferred and the time it took. --- # Diagnose The **Diagnose** tab gathers troubleshooting information from a Rhopoint application that is already installed on the PC. When an application crashes or misbehaves, this is the fastest way to collect everything Rhopoint Support needs to investigate. ![](../_images/symmetron-diagnose.png) ## Choose an application Use the drop-down at the top to choose which application to diagnose: 1. **Appearance Elements** — collects Appearance Elements logs and related events. 2. **Aesthetix Kernel** — collects information about the Aesthetix measurement engine. 3. **Custom application…** — click **Browse…** to select any other application's executable (`.exe`). ![](../_images/symmetron-diagnose-application-selection.png) ## Collect diagnostics Click **Collect diagnostics**. Symmetron gathers the following, all read-only: ![](../_images/symmetron-diagnose-results.png) - **Windows Event Log** — relevant entries from the last 30 days. Click *Show all entries* to expand the full list. - **Application Logs** — the log files written by the selected application, with their size and date. - **WER Crash Reports** — Windows Error Reporting records, including the exception code and faulting module where available. ## Share the results Once the information has been collected, three actions appear at the bottom: ![](../_images/symmetron-diagnose-actions.png) 1. **Export as ZIP** — save everything to a ZIP archive on your PC, for example to attach to an email. 2. **Copy summary** — copy a text summary to the clipboard. 3. **Send to Rhopoint** — send the collected diagnostics directly to Rhopoint Support. See [Sending Diagnostics to Rhopoint](rhopoint-symmetron-sending-diagnostics-to-rhopoint.md). --- # Install Symmetron Rhopoint Symmetron is a lightweight diagnostic tool. Installing it is the recommended way to use Symmetron: the installer sets up the required dependencies for you and keeps the tool up to date automatically. ## Download Download the latest version of Symmetron from [download.rhopointservice.net/symmetron](https://download.rhopointservice.net/symmetron). ## Installation 1. Download the Symmetron installer from the link above. 2. Double-click the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. 3. Launch Symmetron from the Start menu. ![](../_images/symmetron-installation.png) > [!info] The installer sets up any required dependencies and checks for updates automatically, installing them in the background — so you always run the latest diagnostics with everything it needs. ## System requirements Symmetron itself has very modest requirements: - **OS:** Windows 10 (build 19041 / 20H1) or newer - **CPU:** x64 - **Disk:** A few hundred MB of free space > [!info] Symmetron does not need any Rhopoint software to be installed in order to run. It is designed to be used *before* you install a Rhopoint product. [Run your first compatibility check](rhopoint-symmetron-running-compatibility-checks.md) --- # Licence Check The **Licence Check** tab lets you inspect a Rhopoint licence on this PC — to confirm it is valid, see what it covers and when it expires. All processing happens locally. ![](../_images/symmetron-licence-check.png) > [!info] All processing happens on this device. Licence keys are never sent anywhere. ## Load a licence There are several ways to load a licence: 1. **Open Licence** — browse to and open a Rhopoint licence file. 2. **Read clipboard** — read a licence that you have copied to the clipboard. 3. **Scan this PC** — search the PC for installed Rhopoint licences automatically. 4. **Drag and drop** — drag a licence file anywhere into the Symmetron window. > [!info] Symmetron also detects a licence automatically when you copy a licence file or licence text to the clipboard, and switches to this tab for you. ## Read the result When a licence is loaded, Symmetron shows whether it is valid and lists its details. ![](../_images/symmetron-valid-licence.png) If a single licence is loaded it is shown directly; if several are found you can pick one from the list and use **Back to licence list** to return. ## Host ID The input card shows **This PC's Host ID** — the unique hardware identifier of this machine. > [!info] When you request a node-locked licence from Rhopoint, you will be asked for this Host ID. You can copy it from here or from the [System Info](rhopoint-symmetron-system-info.md) tab. --- # MCP Server The **MCP Server** tab lets an AI assistant connect to Symmetron and inspect this PC for you. Once you start the server, an AI assistant — such as Claude or a local model — can use Symmetron's read-only diagnostic tools to examine the machine and help work out whether it meets a Rhopoint product's requirements, and what to change if it does not. This is an optional, advanced feature aimed at IT staff and integration partners who already use an AI assistant. If you just want to check a PC yourself, use the [Checks](rhopoint-symmetron-running-compatibility-checks.md) tab instead. ![](../_images/symmetron-mcp-server.png) The server is **off until you start it**, only listens on this PC, and — like the rest of Symmetron — only ever reads information. It never changes anything on your machine. ## Starting the server 1. Open the **MCP Server** tab. 2. Click **Start server**. 3. The status changes to **Running** and a server address appears, for example `http://127.0.0.1:8787/mcp`. ![](../_images/symmetron-mcp-running.png) To stop it again, click **Stop server**. The server also stops automatically when you close Symmetron, and after a period of inactivity (see *Auto-stop* below). ## Connecting your AI assistant Choose your AI client under **Client configuration**. Symmetron shows the exact configuration to copy for each one — including the live address — so you can paste it straight into your client. | Client | How it connects | |---|---| | **Claude Code** | A single command line you can run to add the server. | | **Claude Desktop** | A snippet for `claude_desktop_config.json`. | | **Gemini CLI** | A snippet for `~/.gemini/settings.json`. | | **Mistral Vibe** | A snippet for `~/.vibe/config.toml`. | | **Ollama** | A snippet for the MCPHost bridge (`~/.mcphost.json`), since Ollama has no built-in MCP support. | > [!info] The AI client must run on **this same PC**, because the server is only reachable locally. Cloud assistants such as ChatGPT or Perplexity cannot reach it and are therefore not supported. ![](../_images/symmetron-mcp-clients.png) ## What the AI assistant can see While the server is running, the assistant can use the following read-only tools: | Capability | What it provides | |---|---| | **System information** | Operating system, processor, memory, storage, graphics and USB controllers. | | **Run compatibility checks** | Runs the checks for a chosen Rhopoint product and returns each result. | | **Connectivity** | Whether the Rhopoint online services are reachable from this PC. | | **Installed licences** | The Rhopoint licences installed on this PC, with expiry and validity. | | **Diagnostic report** | The full Symmetron diagnostic report for this PC. | | **Recent logs** | The most recent entries from Symmetron's log file. | There is also a guided **"assess compatibility"** instruction the assistant can use to work through a complete check for a given product and summarise the problems and recommendations. ## Privacy and safety The server is designed to be safe, but it is worth understanding what it does: - **Read-only.** It only reads diagnostic information and never changes this PC. - **Local only.** It is reachable only from this PC and has no password. While it is running, any program on this PC can query it — so only run it when you intend to. - **Your data leaves with the assistant.** Information the AI reads — such as the machine name, hardware ID and installed licences — is sent on to your AI client's provider, exactly as if you had typed it into that assistant yourself. > [!info] Only start the server when you want an AI assistant to inspect this PC, and stop it again afterwards. The activity list shows you everything the assistant requested. ## Auto-stop To make sure the server is never left running by accident, Symmetron stops it automatically after a period with no activity. Use the **Auto-stop when idle** menu to choose the period (5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes), or set it to **Off** to keep the server running until you stop it yourself. Your choice is remembered. ## Test connection Click **Test connection** to confirm the running server is reachable and working. Symmetron checks the server from within the app and reports how many tools are available — a quick way to make sure everything is set up before you connect your assistant. ## Activity The **Activity** list shows each server event and every request the assistant makes, with a timestamp — so you can always see what was queried while the server was running. Click **Clear** to empty the list. --- # Remote Support The **Remote Support** tab lets a Rhopoint engineer connect to your PC to help you directly. You stay in control: a remote session only starts when you enter the session number that the engineer gives you. ![](../_images/symmetron-remote-support.png) ## Join a session 1. Contact Rhopoint Support. The engineer will give you a **session number** (for example `894-135-7866`). 2. Type the session number into the field. 3. Click **Connect**. Symmetron opens the remote assistance session in your browser, and the engineer can then view your screen to help. > [!info] Symmetron also recognises a session number automatically when you copy it to the clipboard, and fills it in for you. If the number is not valid, Symmetron asks you to re-enter it in the form `xxx-xxx-xxxx`. --- # Running Compatibility Checks The **Checks** tab is the heart of Symmetron. You select the Rhopoint product you intend to use, and Symmetron runs a set of read-only checks to confirm that this PC meets every technical requirement for that product. ## Select your product When you open Symmetron, the Checks tab shows the product picker. Each tile represents a Rhopoint product or product combination. ![](../_images/symmetron-checks.png) Click the tile that matches the product you plan to install. Symmetron immediately starts running the checks for that product. The available products are: 1. Appearance Elements + Aesthetix 2. Appearance Elements + TAMS 3. Appearance Elements + Optimap 4. Elements Hub + Aesthetix 5. Elements Hub + AIDO 6. COM Agent 7. AI Lab 8. IDTX Lab 9. Quick Report App > [!info] Each product runs a tailored set of checks. For example, an Appearance Elements + Aesthetix profile checks for the camera driver and the required USB 3 ports, while a network-only product checks different things. ## Read the results As the checks run, results appear in the **Results** list below the picker. A summary bar at the top counts how many checks passed, raised a warning, failed, or returned information. ![](../_images/symmetron-example-checks.png) Each result row shows: 1. A status icon — pass, warning, fail, or information. 2. The name of the check (for example *Operating system*, *USB 3 controller*, *Camera driver*). 3. A short explanation, and details such as the value that was found. The results are sorted so that the most important findings — failures and warnings — appear at the top. | Status | Meaning | |---|---| | **Pass** | The requirement is met. No action needed. | | **Warning** | The PC will probably work, but something is not ideal and may cause problems. | | **Fail** | A requirement is not met. The product is unlikely to work until this is resolved. | | **Info** | Background information, not a pass or fail. | ![](../_images/symmetron-check-warning-example.png) ## Re-run the checks After you change something on the PC — for example after plugging in a device, installing a driver or freeing up memory — you can run the checks again. - Click **Change** in the summary bar to pick a different product, or - Click **Re-run** to run the same product's checks again. ![](../_images/symmetron-check-profile-actions.png) ## Send the results to Rhopoint If a check fails and you would like help, click **Send to Rhopoint** below the results to forward the check report to Rhopoint Support. See [Sending Diagnostics to Rhopoint](rhopoint-symmetron-sending-diagnostics-to-rhopoint.md) for details. > [!info] If you see the message *"No checks matched this profile on the current platform"*, the selected product is not supported on this PC's operating system. --- # Sending Diagnostics to Rhopoint Whatever tab you are on, Symmetron can bundle everything it knows about the PC into a single diagnostic package and send it to Rhopoint Support. This gives the support team the full picture in one step. ## Header actions The buttons in the top-right of the window are available from every tab: ![](../_images/symmetron-diagnostics-save-log-actions.png) 1. **Send diagnostics** — builds a complete diagnostic bundle (system information, the latest check results, installed licences, connectivity and the application log) and opens the send dialog. 2. **Save** — builds the same bundle but saves it to a ZIP file on your PC, for example to attach to an email yourself. 3. **Manual** — opens the Symmetron manual in your web browser. ## The send dialog When you choose to send something to Rhopoint — from the header, from the [Checks](rhopoint-symmetron-running-compatibility-checks.md) results, or from the [Diagnose](rhopoint-symmetron-diagnose.md) tab — the same dialog appears. ![](../_images/symmetron-send-diagnostics-dialog.png) Fill in: 1. **Name** *(required)* — your name. 2. **E-mail** *(required)* — your e-mail address, so Rhopoint can reply. 3. **Comment** — a short description of the problem or what you are sending. The attachments included in the bundle are listed at the bottom. Click **Send to Rhopoint** to upload. ![](../_images/symmetron-report-sent.png) When the upload succeeds, Symmetron shows a **reference number**. Quote this number in any follow-up with Rhopoint Support so they can find your report quickly. > [!info] Your name and e-mail are remembered for next time. The comment and attachments are only sent when you click **Send to Rhopoint**. --- # System Info The **System Info** tab shows a detailed, read-only summary of the PC's hardware and software. It is a quick way to capture the machine's specification when reporting a problem or confirming a configuration. ![](../_images/symmetron-system-info.png) ## Information shown The information is grouped into cards: | Card | Contents | |---|---| | **System** | Operating system and build, machine name, current user, manufacturer/model, domain or workgroup, uptime, and the PC's Hardware ID (Host ID). | | **Processor & Memory** | Processor model, core and thread counts, clock speed, and total/free RAM. | | **Graphics** | Installed graphics adapters and their driver versions. | | **Storage** | Fixed drives with free and total space. | | **USB Controllers** | The USB controllers present on the PC. | | **Runtime** | The software runtime environment. | ![](../_images/symmetron-system-info-details.png) ## Refresh and copy - **Refresh** — re-read the system information (useful after changing hardware). - **Copy all** — copy the entire system summary to the clipboard, ready to paste into an email or support ticket. ![](../_images/symmetron-system-info-actions.png) > [!info] The **Hardware ID (Host ID)** uniquely identifies this PC and is the same value used when issuing a node-locked Rhopoint licence. See [Licence Check](rhopoint-symmetron-licence-check.md).
