Every day. When changing between standard head and 2/4mm adaptor, re-calibration is essential
How do I calibrate my instrument when using a custom adaptor?
Calibrate with standard measuring head.
How can I overcome errors in reading due to operator poor positioning?
Using a standard adaptor, the measuring head should be positioned flat against the surface to be measured.
When Should I use a custom Adaptor?
To increase repeatability of measurements on curved surfaces or small parts, essential for complex curves
ISO2813 recommends surfaces measuring mid to low gloss finishes using 60 and 85 deg. Is the flex 20 suitable for measuring these surfaces?
Yes, see table. 60 and 85 give greater resolution of measurement at these gloss levels (small visible differences in finish = a large difference in gloss value)
Whilst 20 has a smaller measurement resolution, visiblee differences in gloss can be quantified with the Flex 20.
Should I use the measuring head connected directly to the instrument?
The measuring head should only be connected to the
instrument for measuring larger flat surfaces. It is recommended to connect the instrument to the measuring head using cable for ease and stability of measurement
When do I use the curved part adaptor?
This should be used for the measurement of all cylindrical objects
Surfaces with curvature greater than…
Why should I use a custom adaptor?
This will increase the repeatability of measurement for irregular shaped objects
