The New Rhopoint IQ can measure all aspects of Reflective appearance quality.

Many industries measure reflective qualities with a simple gloss meter; however gloss measurement alone is not enough to completely assess reflective qualities.

It is very common for orange peel and haze effects to dramatically reduce the perceived quality of a finish without affecting gloss values.

Gloss

Gloss is a simple measure of how reflective a surface is. The Rhopoint IQ is available in two models the IQ 20/60 (for mid-high gloss-mirrored surfaces) or the IQ 20/60/85 (for matt-mid-high-mirrored surfaces). Gloss measurement with the Rhopoint IQ is guaranteed to be backwards compatible with BYK Microgloss and Rhopoint Novo-Gloss Instruments.

Haze

High quality gloss surfaces have a clear, deep, brilliant finish. Common formulation, application and curing problems cause coatings to have a hazy finish. Haze causes a drop in reflected contrast and causes halos to appear around light sources, these unwanted effects dramatically reduce visual quality.

Quantifying haze is simple with the Rhopoint IQ, Log Haze units according to ASTM E410 are measured simultaneously with gloss and DOI, the lower the value the less hazy the surface.
